When God Laughs…

Atheism’s attempt to paint God out of the picture, even in the face of what they would call the “apparent design” of life, is comedic relief for God. Through the wisdom inherent in our universe’s structure and life, God has identified Himself, but man refuses to listen. In turn God said, “I will laugh at your calamity; I will also mock when terror strikes you like a storm, and you calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon. Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me.” (Proverbs 1:24-28). God is not afraid for His works to be humbly examined in awe of their obvious design. He works in a way that those who study His works might delight in and remember (memorialize) Him (Psalms 111:2, 4).

Yet God laughs last at those who profess to know Him but refuse to submit to His will. The atheist’s hubris in rejecting the obvious is foolishness to the nth degree. However, the oblivious fool is the one who claims to know God merely for the sake of convenience while refusing to serve Him with conviction in heart and life. God’s laughter is no light-hearted matter for the person who takes Him seriously. If our light is to shine, we must trust and serve God not only because of the obvious but out of a deep conviction and commitment to His word.
